What a funeral celebrant does...

I will make contact with you and arrange a time to meet with you.  You may want other members of the family with you to share memories of your loved one.  Together we will talk about how you see your loved ones ceremony looking. If she or he was religious then we can include religious content but if not then we can have a totally non religious ceremony with music, poems, readings and tributes.

When I have all the elements you want included in the ceremony I will create a personal ceremony which will be all about your loved one.  It will last around 25 minutes and be full of all the lovely things you want to say about them.  There may be funny stories to tell, or things they achieved in their lives to be told.  I will send you the ceremony for your approval.  You can amend it, change it or add to it until you are happy with it.  I'm at the end of the phone for you if you need to chat about anything at all. 

I will be there to meet you when you arrive. I will walk in alongside the Funeral Director and take my place at the front.  I will guide your family and mourners through the ceremony and introduce anyone you have chosen to speak, I will pay tribute to your loved one in the way you want and my sole purpose will be to make the ceremony a positive experience you will look back on and feel good about.  A befitting farewell for a person who was loved and well regarded.

If you would like to take away the sometimes painful and often daunting responsibility of planning your funeral then you can do it yourself before you go on your final journey.  Have the songs you want, the readings, poems and write your own life story and tribute.  Leave the information with your loved ones or the funeral director you have chosen. Many people are looking to go down this road these days as funerals become more personal to the individual
